At least six units of Dublin Fire Brigade are at the scene of a major fire near Greenogue Business Park in the west of the city.
The alarm was raised at around midnight crews and are still battling the blaze at a recycling centre halfway between Newcastle and Ratchoole this morning.
Third Officer with Dublin Fire Brigade, Brendan McNicholas, has told 98FM News "there are a lot of paper and plastics at the plant and there's been a lot damage to the building, particularly to the roof. We've had some more complications because it's been very difficult to get water supplies but we've been working with South Dublin County Council to rectify that. The men and women of Dublin Fire Brigade are doing great work to bring this fire under control but we have a way to go yet."
Drivers are being warned visibility may be affected this morning on the N7 or the M50 depending on wind direction.
Locals in the area are being advised to keep their windows closed this morning because of the smoke.
