For the first time ever in Ireland, child abuse dolls have been seized by Gardai investigating child abuse.
Thousands of images have also been found, and laptops and phones taken during 31 searches across the country.
No arrests have been made but gardai are speaking with a number of people.
Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll said customs have been asked to keep an eye out for the illegal dolls.
"We are aware that they have been imported into the state. It is an added concern to what is already an area that gives rise to considerable concern, to say the least" he said.
