A Wicklow-based entrepreneur is looking to launch a service which allows drivers to borrow other people's vehicles.
Maurice Sheehy has described it as the Air BnB for cars, where people can earn money by renting out their motor on a short term basis.
In a major boost to his plan, Sheehy has secured a deal with Axa Insurance which would allow people to drive with comprehensive cover for up to €10 a day.
The insurance wouldn't affect the owner's premium or no claims bonus.
Sheehy's told the Irish Times cars and their owners can be reviewed online in the same way AirBnB rates properties and holidaymakers.
The businessman also believes people could make €3,500 a year.
