Bookmaker Paddy Power has taken a swipe at Conor McGregor this morning - paying out on Floyd Mayweather over three days before a punch is thrown in the "fight of the century."
The Irish bookies made the €271,500 pay-out despite more than 80% of customers backing the Irishman.
Spokesperson Paddy Power admitted the company is taking a gamble but insisted that, "when you’re backing Mayweather, you’ve basically covered the whole board anyway."
“Patriotism aside, we are paying out early on a Mayweather victory – because we checked, and only one of them is a boxer. We always bet on black.”
The pay-out affects bets on an outright Mayweather victory.
The international interest in the fight has made it the bookmaker's biggest betting market for boxing ever - over three times bigger than when Mayweather took on Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
