The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival kicks off tonight at the newly re-opened Lighthouse Cinema. Stellan Skarsgard who you’ll know from “Good Will Hunting” and more recently “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” will kick off the celebrations together with the fabulous Irish actress Amy Huberman. Amy stars in the Irish feature film “Stella Days” and voice some of the animation in “Death of a Superhero” – both of which will be screened during the film festival.
Stellan was awarded a Volta, the festival Career Achievement Award at a ceremony earlier on today at The Merrion Hotel.
This is the 10th year running for J.D.I.F.F. and as usual, a host of celebs will be in town throughout the festival kicking off on February 16th-26th. Guests confirmed include the legendary Al Pacino who’ll show his documentary “Wilde Salome”, Glenn Close with “Albert Nobbs”, Mark Wahlberg with “Contraband” and Martin Sheen with “Stella Day”. Michael Madsen, the star of “Reservoir Dogs” who recently featured on Celebrity Big Brother will be in Dublin too for the JDIFF Cult Film Club screening of “Reservoir Dogs”.
The festival will open with a Gala Presentation of Thom Fitzgerald’s “Cloudburst” starring Brenda Fricker.
