The Taoiseach has said that income taxes won’t go up, unless the IMF has its way.
Speaking at the Fine Gael Think-In, which concludes in Galway today, Enda Kenny insisted the Government has no plans to raise tax in December’s budget.
Despite the fact the EU and IMF have committed us to three successive years of income tax hikes; the Government is trying to renegotiate the agreement.
Earlier, the Finance Minister warned of “difficult decisions” in December’s budget but said the savings needed were less than last year.
Enda Kenny admitted that Ireland has agreed to €750m in income tax increases, but he’s hoping we can make alternative savings instead.
While, Michael Noonan said “the next Budget will be two thirds as painful as the last.”
