The Enterprise Minister is urging the ESB to rethink their decision not to pass on price cuts to customers in arrears.
The electricity company announced that they were dropping their prices for households which could save up to €200 per year.
However, more than 100,000 customers aren’t eligible for the reduction as they’re behind on paying their bill.
“It is not fair to penalise customer who may have got into difficultys on their payments in the past in respect of future deals with the ESB,” said Minister Richard Bruton.
“I think that’s a very fair point and I hope the ESB will respond positively.”
