The latest movie from Colm Meaney hits cinemas on Friday called “Parked”. Set in a carpark along the seafront in Clontarf, Fred Daly is having a hard time financially and is forced to live in his car – striking up a friendship with an unlikely fella who is also living in his car while battling a drug addiction.
Colm was back in Dublin this week and told 98FM how Dubs are always quoting lines from his films and shouting them at him on the street – he finds it quite funny. Now Colin Farrell once told 98FM how the Dubs usually tell him how they loved him in the “Phonebox” or the “Tollbooth” – something Colm can definitely relate to – he told us people OFTEN misquote the lines or even get the names of the movies in which he has starred incorrect.
Recently at the Cannes Film Festival, an Irish girl told him how she “loved him in The Guard” and when Colm told her he wasn’t in the movie – she was confusing him with Brendan Gleeson, she thought he was pulling her leg. Colm also told 98FM that people on the street will often say to him “you’re somebody aren’t you?” when they can’t quite place how they know him. Hilarious.
